If you’ve been in Charlotte for long, chances are this isn’t the first time you’ve heard Stacee Michelle talk style. A local wardrobe stylist and fashion correspondent, Michelle can frequently be found chatting about trends on local television and offering behind-the-scenes interviews with some of the city’s most chic. Most recently Michelle was selected as a finalist to potentially represent Charlotte this month at New York Fashion Week as an E! News Fashion Correspondent. We caught up with the busy fashion influencer for the scoop on her own style and to talk top trends for fall. www.stacee-michelle.com

How would you describe your style?

Confidence is my best accessory, so I would describe my style as ‘confident.’ I love changing my style from preppy to punk, classic to eclectic—and letting my feelings determine what direction I head while in my closet. If I feel great in it, I wear it!

What is your must-have fashion item right now?

My must-haves for transitioning into fall are lace-up heeled sandals. The weather in North Carolina is still sizzling in September, so a nice lace-up heeled sandal with a chunky heel is perfect to show off that new pedicure (for now) and then pair them with opaque tights as the temperatures drop.

What are some of your favorite trends for fall?

Everyone needs at least one statement choker necklace. It will transform any minimal outfit into a fashionable ensemble. Ruffles were a must for spring and summer and will continue into fall. Navy jackets with double-breasted buttons are the perfect layering piece to wear over a dress or with destructed jeans for the weekend.

Who are some of your top style icons?

Diane Von Furstenberg and First Lady Michelle Obama. These women are more than just stylish—they are trailblazers in the industry, empowering women of all ages to be strong and embrace their individuality.

Where do you enjoy shopping in Charlotte?

There are so many great boutiques across Charlotte, but the stores I frequent the most are KK Bloom, Doll, Monkees, Lotus, and Sloan. These boutiques always tend to have unique, on-trend items.
