10 of the best dog-friendly events in Charlotte this summer

We’re all officially itching to get outside, but does a little piece of you die inside every time you leave your dog home alone? Well, never fear. We gathered 10 dog-friendly events going on in Charlotte this summer so you can both enjoy this warm weather and extra daylight guilt-free.

Waggle For Your Beer

Every Wednesday at a different brewery in Charlotte

6-7 p.m.

Meet up with fellow dog owners and help your pup get out some restless energy with free, guided 1.5-mile group dog walks (or runs!) in North End, Villa Heights, Plaza Midwood, Dilworth, or South End. Afterwards, owners and their pups are welcome to hang on their patios and take advantage of beer specials.

Every Thursday night

Sugar Creek Brewing, 215 Southside Dr, Charlotte, NC 28217

Head to Sugar Creek Brewing for live music every Thursday night until Sept. 27 on their newly-renovated, full-service patio. You and your pup can enjoy local bands playing everything from blues to southern rock while you throw back a cold one.

South End Farmers & Artisans Market

Every Saturday morning until June 30

9 a.m.-2 p.m.

Atherton, 2104 South Blvd, Charlotte, NC 28203

Pick up some fresh food for the week for both you and your dog! This farmers and artisans market is dog-friendly and has AC so neither of you need to stay out in the sweltering summer sun. Shop for everything from meats to soaps from local vendors. 

Mutts & Mimosa Brunch

Sycamore Brewing, 2161 Hawkins St, Charlotte, NC 28203

Head to Sycamore Brewing for their monthly brunch benefiting the Humane Society of Charlotte. Event includes Prosecco Pops, Frosé, cider, and of course fresh craft beer. Plus TIN Kitchen will be on site serving brunch. (Before you head to brunch, check the Sycamore Brewing Facebook page for possible date changes.)

Dog Days of Summer

Saturday, June 16

9 a.m. -noon 

NoDa Brewing Company, 2921 N Tryon St, Charlotte, NC 28206

Come out for this morning full of dog-friendly activities, including a “Running of the Bulls” (bulldogs, that is), FREE professional dog photography, a dog yoga class led by our very own Katie Toussaint, and a DIY dog toy crafting station with Crowned Sparrow Co. Plus, enjoy local craft beer, brunch items from The Herban Legend, doughnuts from Reigning Doughnuts, and coffee from Enderly Coffee Company.

Margaritas for Mutts

Sunday, June 24

2-4 p.m.

Vida Cantina, 210 E Trade St, Charlotte, NC 28202

Need a break from craft beer? Bring your pup to the Vida Cantina patio for their annual Margaritas for Mutts charity fundraiser. The event is free, but $1 from every margarita sold will be donated to Catering to Dogs & Cats, a nonprofit organization right here in Charlotte. There will also be a raffle for prizes from popular local pet businesses.

Strut Your Mutt Talent Show!

Saturday, June 30

1-4 p.m.

Lucky Dog Bark & Brew Charlotte, 2220 Thrift Road, Charlotte, NC 28208

If your pup has a hidden talent, enter them in the first ever Strut Your Mutt Talent Show at Lucky Dog Bark & Brew. There is a $10 donation to enter the contest to benefit Saving Grace K9’s. Patriotic costumes are encouraged! There will also be a food truck on site for owners to grab a snack.

Fourth of July Celebration

Tuesday, July 3-Wednesday, July 4

9 a.m.-4 p.m.

U.S. National Whitewater Center, 5000 Whitewater Center Parkway, Charlotte, NC 28214

This two-day festival features outdoor adventures, yoga, live music, and fireworks displays on both nights. Pets must be kept on a leash at all times, and if your doggo isn’t into fireworks, you should plan to leave before they begin at 9:30 p.m. each night.

Doggy Headshots to Benefit Catering to Cats & Dogs

Saturday, July 14

2-5 p.m.

Lucky Dog Bark & Brew Charlotte, 2220 Thrift Road, Charlotte, NC 28208

Come out to Lucky Dog Bark & Brew to get professional photos taken of your pup and enter for a chance to win: Best Smile, Best Wiggle Butt, Smallest Dog, Best Trick, and more! A $20 donation will get you emailed copies of the photos so you can upload them right to Instagram. All you need to supply is the snappy caption.

Bark in the Ballpark

Take your dog out to the ballgame. During special Bark in the Ballpark nights, dogs are welcome to root for the home team along with their owners. Dogs get free entry, but their owners must purchase a game ticket.
