To-Do List

June’s essential dates

Charlotte Ballet artistic director Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux is departing after 20 years of leadership. For the final performance of his impressive tenure, Bonnefoux has created Charlotte Ballet: Inspired Works. The evenings at the Knight Theater feature a variety of dancers and styles, all set to inspire.

The annual three-day Taste of Charlotte festival draws hundreds to Uptown Charlotte’s streets for live music, street performances, shopping, and, of course, the chance to indulge in tastes from Charlotte restaurants. There will be more than 100 samples from area restaurants at this festive event, which spans five blocks of Tryon Street from Stonewall to Trade.

Three fathers and businessmen who support the mission of the American Diabetes Association will be feted at the annual Father of the Year Awards fundraising gala held at Uptown’s Westin hotel. This year’s honorees are Kieth Cockrell, Financial Center Client Management Services Executive at Bank of America; Vinay Patel, President and CEO of SREE Hotels; and Chad Utermark, Executive Vice President of Nucor.

For the sixth year, the U.S. National Whitewater Center is hosting its Brew Stash Bash. The event features live music, tastings from a large variety of regional and national craft breweries, and the chance to enjoy it all in the center’s inviting outdoor setting. Tastings go from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Parking is $5, and sample cards can be purchased to taste beers.

Restaurants across Charlotte will donate a portion of their sales this evening to Communities in Schools for the annual Dine Out For Kids. The group’s mission is to support students in need, helping them stay in school and achieve their goals. To choose where to contribute—and where to eat your dinner—visit the organization’s website,
