Put on your sneakers and join the fight against breast cancer with the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. Gather a team to walk or run the 5K, or show your support on the sidelines. Donations will support local screening, treatment, and educational programs. 6 a.m.-10 a.m. Marshall Park.

Join Safe Alliance for food, fashion, and philanthropy at the 6th-Annual Fighting for Women with Fashion Event. Local attorneys and physicians will be walking the runway and a silent auction will be held. Tickets are $50 each and support victims of domestic violence. 6:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m. 1930 Camden Road.

Hear from New York Times bestselling author Amy Stewart at the UNC Charlotte Botanical Gardens 50th Anniversary Symposium. Registration is $99 and includes lunch and a tour of the beautiful gardens. 8:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m. UNC Charlotte.

Fun for the whole faily, the Mint Museum is hosting its 80th-Anniversary Free Community Day. There will be activities for children, live music, food trucks, and more. Admission is free. 11 a.m.-4p.m. 2730 Randolph Road.

Join Opera Carolina for their season opener, “The Barber of Seville.” This Rossini show guarantees exciting adventure, amusing comedy, and a happy ending. Show times and ticket prices vary.
